The purpose of the role
Initiates continuous improvement programs, takes the lead in coordinating the different projects, provides training and coaching in the use of Lean tools. Implementation of the GPS framework ensuring a smooth integration across the organisation whilst sharing best practices with other sites.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates closely with various manufacturing departments to identify improvement areas, ensuring enhanced visibility and a focused approach to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implements Lean manufacturing tools and methodologies, acting as a coach and trainer to empower employees in effectively utilizing these tools. Ensures standardization of Lean tools across all departments.
- Communicates key performance indicators (KPIs) of GPS projects, providing regular updates to relevant stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making and fostering accountability.
- Facilitates the exchange of best practices among different operational activities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Maintains direct communication with other manufacturing sites to share insights and collaborate on ongoing projects.
- Provides operational support by delivering skills training, ensuring the site meets customer requirements efficiently and effectively as possible inline with Lean Six Sigma methodology.
- Provides support and improvement to internal performance monitoring tool (RedZone) ensuring continuous improvement and compliance.
- Offers daily support to the GPS Manager, including but not limited to – creating and maintaining reports relating to manufacturing performance, task monitoring & updating projects mainly relating to reduction of LOI and increased facility OEE.
Requirements
Skills & Capabilities
- Knowledge in modern manufacturing methods and tools such as SMED, cycle planning, DMAIC, 5S and OEE.
- Must be literate and numerate in English.
- Computer literate, considering Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of RedZone and other internal systems is desirable
- Must understand key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Able to provide expert guidance regarding Six Sigma methodology
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Adept at managing and resolving conflicts that may arise during improvement projects
- Good listening skills and attention to detail.
