Inventory Accountant - Part Time (31hrs pw)

In this role, you will support the day to day financial management of Inventory records for aligned business area.

The job holder is required to work at our Head office for at least 3 days a week and we are flexible to accommodate how the 31 hrs are worked in the week. The Head office address is 40 High Street, Street, Somerset, BA16 0EQ. 

Responsibilities

  • Input and maintain SAP based accounting records for margin and Inventory completely, accurately and to comply with accounting standards and group accounting policies.
  • Deliver period end close processes, escalate issues promptly (particularly around valuation of inventory issues for example under recoveries of duty) to deliver in line with group policy and deadlines.
  • Prepare and deliver all related Inventory and margin accounting transactions for assigned areas in accordance with GAAP and group accounting manual to ensure accounting records are correct and complete 
  • Deliver regular reporting requirements to the assigned area, to support understanding of the financial result.
  • Ensure aged items in inventory control accounts are followed up and reconciled monthly. Escalate any issues to Inventory Finance Manager 
    Review, develop and improve inventory accounting processes / operations to create efficiency and reduce non-essential workload.
    Maintain effective controls and procedures to satisfy statutory audit requirements.

Qualifications

•    Working towards or recently gained accounting qualification or equivalent experience
•    Basic knowledge of accounting systems with ability to use SAP
•    Good communication skills
•    Ability to follow processes and use judgement within defined procedures
•    Basic PC/Microsoft skills
•    Good excel skills
