The role includes the delivery of complete, accurate and timely accounting for Group retail, outlet and EMEA wholesale. Provide accounting support and financial management of cost centre and GL records for the required business areas and for highly complex and specialist areas of the business.

This is a full time role and the expectation is for the job holder to work at Head office for a minimum of 2-3 days a week. The Head office is at 40 High Street, Street, Somerset, BA16 0EQ.   

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and supervise the delivery of accounting processes to ensure SAP based accounting records for overhead departments are maintained completely, accurately and in line with accounting standards and group accounting policies.
  • Ensure balance sheet integrity and accurate and timely month end reporting is delivered.
  • Deliver accounting activity for complex areas of the business. Research and understand changes to external regulations and standards to interpret the impact and advise managers accordingly.
  • Review and monitor accounting in foreign currency to ensure it is accounted for in line with group policy and that the correct rates are used for each currency transaction.
  • Review and monitor accounting records, ensuring adequate evidence to satisfy external audit queries.
  • Review and monitor accounting records and entries to ensure they are accounted for within the correct legal entity.
  • Delivery of financial overhead data to enable business leads’ understanding of financial information and accounting entries.
  • Review, develop and improve processes / operations to create efficiency and reduce non-essential workload.
  • Create the conditions that deliver a highly competent, energetic, engaged and motivated team who are committed and aligned to delivery outcomes.

Qualifications
•    Experience of general ledger accounting, cost centre accounting and detailed knowledge of specialised areas (Property Leases, Retail).
•    A strong understanding of SAP including Cost Centre accounting.
•    Ability to apply complex accounting principles (lease accounting, provisions, UK GAAP, IFRS).
•    A strong understanding of Clark’s business and systems processes.
•    Ability to manage large data sets.
•    Ability to communicate effectively at different levels and to non-finance managers.
•    Good time management & prioritisation skills.
•    Advanced PC/Microsoft skills – SAP, Advanced excel.
•    Professionally qualified or part qualified accountant either ACA (Chartered), ACCA (Certified) or CIMA (Management), if AAT (Technician) qualified studying towards ACA, ACCA or CIMA preferred. With relevant and extensive finance experience gained in operational roles during that period.
