Reporting to the VP North American Supply, Logistics & Functions of Superior Gas Liquids, the Senior Director – Finance & Accounting is responsible for providing financial performance and analysis managing and directing activities related to company financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, including budget and forecast management functions to ensure compliance with company accounting procedures in accordance with IFRS reporting requirements for Superior Gas Liquids.

 

What you'll do:

  • Overall accounting oversight and accountability for financial performance and analysis, and day to day management of financial and accounting controls.   Managing and directing of the month end process, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory management, financial statement preparation, cash management, and all other accounting processes.
  • Oversight of accounting system used at SGL and the management for process and workflows of the system to ensure it meets the organizations current and future needs.  Particularly as the organization grows and looks for opportunities for continuous improvement to make the accounting and finance functions more efficient.
  • Direct and coordinate financial planning and budget management functions.  Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.  Manage the preparation of all financial results, financial outlooks and forecasts.  Works with the organization to develop short- and long-term business plans.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, provincial and federal reporting and tax requirements. 
  • Oversight and accountability for external and internal/CSOX audits.
  • Manage a team of 30+ employees and seasonal contractors, including 4-5 direct reports: Controller, Operational Accounting Lead, FP&A Analyst and Banking Analysts.

What you bring:

  • CPA, CA financial designation is required.  Accounting Firm experience.  Extensive knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including IFRS.  Knowledge of local and federal/provincial financial requirements.  Ability to analyze financial data, prepare financial reports/statements/projections. 
  • High level of inventory management skills to include liquid inventory.
  • Experience dealing with financial instruments with exposure to swaps, futures and options.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in building, motivating and developing teams and manage several complex projects and business initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate and interact with diverse population, from employee level, to C-suite and board of director level.
  • Ability to be team player and maintain strong relationships with Corporate and internal customers.
  • Good analytical ability and experienced Excel user.
