This is a 3rd Shift role, the work schedule is: Sunday-Thursday, 10:00pm-6:00am Pacific Time
SUMMARY
The Mold Setter I is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of plastic injection molds within the manufacturing plant. This role ensures that molds are in optimal working condition to support efficient production operations. The Mold Setter I works under direct supervision and follows established procedures to perform tasks.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares mold setup sheets and related forms, including mold approval to run and mold insert change traveler forms.
- Ensures all molds are correctly staged with necessary parts such as cores, water fittings, ejector bars, etc.
- Follows all established safety guidelines and procedures when handling molds.
- Disassembles and assembles molds for maintenance and service.
- Repairs leaks and replace ejector pins and other worn-out mold components as needed.
- Performs basic maintenance on molds and machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Ensures that all molds are properly cleaned when pulled and that all molds, hoses, pipes, clamps, etc., are properly stored.
- Performs basic maintenance on molds and machines.
- Inspects parts to ensure they meet quality standards, documents deviations and corrective actions, and participates in continuous improvement activities.
- Performs press startup and shutdown processes and assists with color changes as needed.
- May assist in training and cross-training team members to ensure competency in all departmental functions.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Mold Setter or in a similar role.
- Basic knowledge of injection molding processes and equipment.
- Ability to read and understand work orders and setup sheets.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy molds and equipment
- Must be certified to drive forklifts and operate cranes.

- Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
- Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
- Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
