About the Role

 

The Undergraduate Summer Internship Development Program (USID) at Loomis, Sayles & Company is a paid summer internship program offered to first-generation, undergraduate students. The USID Program offers direct experience in a professional setting by completing meaningful project-based work and industry-specific professional development. The 10-week program combines work experience, technical skill- building, and professional development. There is an emphasis on

gaining mastery of the 7 NACE competencies verbal and written communication, creative thinking, work ethic, collaboration, networking, decision-making, and problem-solving. 

 

The internship is offered to those who are first in their family to attend college and/or those under-represented in the investment business. Our goal is to provide a significant learning experience for deeply curious, hard-working students who have not historically had exposure or access to the investment management industry.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain regular reports used by members of the Investment Team
  • Prepare presentation materials, manipulate data, and present findings for team investment discussions and decision making
  • Assist with ad hoc requests for special projects and prospect/client related inquiries
  • Attend team meetings and assist with follow-ups – providing reports and/or meeting minutes
  • Assist team members with timely projects focused on market analysis, relative value in the market, or current economic analysis and trends

Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • Strong academic credentials with an interest relevant coursework in business, finance or economics
  • Interested in following the markets, with some basic understanding of investing
  • Self-starter, capable of monitoring and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task, but remain diligent and produce accurate work
  • Dependable, teammate who understands the value of good communication skills
  • A positive approach and flexible attitude
  • Strong computer skills and comfort in Microsoft Suite, specifically creating graphs and charts using Excel and PowerPoint
