Model Shop Co-op - Fall 2025
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Co-op is a college or college-bound student pursing an engineering or quality-related degree and is interested in gaining experience in engineering, manufacturing, assembly techniques, process development, design principles and philosophies, along with quality assurance. The Co-op will be supporting the Model Shop by utilizing various shop machinery, equipment, and CAD software. Will be working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with fellow employees and management, solving problems, and creating innovating solutions. The Co-op will have hands-on experience in the development of concepts, prototypes, fixtures, and production equipment by being involved in the development, design, fabrication and documentation processes and other assignments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Involved in building simple prototypes, fixtures, gages, and equipment
- Solving problems of basic to moderate scope and complexity
- Assist in the design, fabrication, and assembly of working prototypes, fixtures, and equipment from the guidance of assigned mentor or shop management
- Will be manipulating basic to moderate CAD files with multiple parts and assemblies
- Able to work under the supervision and guidance of shop personnel and/or shop management
- Responsible for supporting engineering activities and other company functions as assigned by supervisor
- Identify assembly process or equipment improvements
- Document all work in compliance with AtriCure Quality System requirements & corporate policies

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma
- Current undergraduate student working towards a degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering/Technical degree.
- Desire to initiate a mechanical/manufacturing/engineering career in future
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MasterCam – Design & Programming experience (CAD/CAM)
- AutoDesk Inventor – Design & Schematics
- Machining experience – manual and CNC KneeMill & Lathe
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as required
- Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
