About the Job:

 

The Strategic Pricing Manager will play a critical role in driving the automation, strategy, and technology deployment related to pricing across Odyssey Logistics’ spot and transactional brokerage business. Acting as a bridge between business operations, technology, and procurement, this individual will lead efforts to develop and optimize pricing strategies that are competitive, profitable, and aligned with market conditions.

 

This role requires a combination of advanced data analysis, market intelligence, technology acumen, and cross-functional collaboration. The Strategic Pricing Manager will enhance pricing capabilities through data-driven insights, innovative technology, and alignment with proprietary and external tools to drive effective decision-making and business outcomes.

 

 

In This Role, You Will:

 

  • Pricing Strategy & Automation:
    • Develop and manage automated pricing strategies tailored to freight characteristics such as distance, lead time, and other factors.
    • Optimize pricing models to improve quote-to-load conversion rates and profitability.
  • Data Analysis & Insights:
    • Deep dive into large datasets using SQL, Excel, PowerBI, Looker, and AWS Analytics tools (e.g., Athena) to answer critical business questions.
    • Build and maintain dashboards and data pipelines to monitor pricing performance and inform strategy.
    • Perform complex data research to identify opportunities for pricing optimization.
  • Market Intelligence & Forecasting:
    • Leverage external tools like Sonar and DAT Trendlines, along with proprietary systems, for competitive intelligence and trend analysis.
    • Forecast market shifts (e.g., seasonality and external economic factors) to adjust strategies proactively.
    • Provide actionable insights to leadership and other organizational stakeholders related to freight market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes.
  • Algorithm & Product Optimization:
    • Collaborate with IT and data science teams to refine pricing algorithms and improve automation capabilities.
    • Influence product roadmaps to align with pricing optimization goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with Customer Sales and Carrier Sales teams to align pricing strategies with customer needs and operational requirements.
    • Drive internal adoption of better buying behaviors to improve pricing efficiency and execution.
  • Technology & Innovation:
    • Identify and implement transformative technologies to advance pricing automation and scalability.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain or related field
  • An emphasis in data science, statistics, or business analytics is preferred.
  • 5 years of pricing experience within a logistics environment
  • Proficiency in data tools such as SQL, Excel, PowerBI, Looker, and AWS Analytics tools (e.g., Athena).
  • Familiarity with logistics market intelligence tools like Sonar, DAT Trendlines, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and forecasting skills, with the ability to anticipate market trends and seasonal impacts.
  • Understanding of transportation pricing models and competitive dynamics across different modes.
  • Experience collaborating across teams and effectively communicating complex strategies to stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to track and present metrics to senior leadership.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

 

Location:

This is an in-office role with a hybrid schedule in Charlotte, NC.

Direct Reports:

This role is an individual contributor role and has no direct reports. 

Travel:

Approximately 5% travel required.
