About the Job:
The position of Buyer will have the primary responsibility for purchasing and negotiating major national and regional material and/or service agreements for use across the corporation under Procurement designated guidelines with the ability to analyze the financial impacts of contracted services and material purchases. The Buyer will purchase materials and services l for assigned commodities and shall focus on strategic sourcing, negotiation, research, and the measurement of results in addition to placing orders as requisitioned.
In This Role, You Will:
- Place material, equipment, and service orders through alliances/pricing agreements, service agreements, and/or the bidding process.
- Manage bidding process, negotiations and negotiate terms and conditions language.
- Ensure for each agreement that procedures are followed for integrity of all company designated applications, specified requirements as well as execution & documentation.
- Measure & document cost reduction/avoidance on services and materials with minimal to no direction.
- Develop new sources for the materials and services.
- Expedite goods & heavy equipment purchases, manage delivery process, and provide status updates to requester in a timely manner.
- Actively promote Procurement services throughout the organization and perform company-wide and location specific spend analysis.
- Assist internal customers in meeting objectives of cost control, quality, and schedule with minimal to no direction.
- Assist in pulling and assembling information for audits.
- Assist in the development of training materials and/or training customers on company ERP requisitioning, receiving and inventory modules.
- Provide training to team members, other regions and team as assigned to ensure the most cost-effective material and service-related acquisitions.
- Attend operations/project meetings and become involved in projects, maintenance, and operations during planning stages.
- Attend procurement related meetings and/or events.
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship between internal and external customers.
- Enhance vendor relationships to ensure the most competitive and qualified suppliers/service contractors.
- Help develop and implement vendor quality program including vendor performance for: on time delivery, invoicing errors, material quality issues, documentation issues, and compliance.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of existing company standards as assigned.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and legal requirements.
- Perform filing of all procurement related documents per department standards.
- Perform reconciliation of purchasing card account where applicable.
- All other duties and projects as assigned.

Required:
- High School Diploma Required. Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
- Certifications (APICS, ISM, APS, other) encouraged.
- Minimum of 2-3 Years purchasing, indirect buying, supply chain, negotiations, finance, or material management experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
- Experience with Contracts and Terms & Conditions is preferred.
- Experience in suppliers’ processes and Cost Drivers is preferred.
- Negotiation skills with service vendors and materials vendors is preferred.
- Understanding and development of KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) helpful.
- Proven track record of managing and delivering cost reductions / value creation.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement and logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Must be familiar with industry related commodities.
- Experience interfacing with Purchasing, Material Management, Operations.
- May be required to work additional hours to meet the needs of the internal customers.
Location: This is an in-office role based in Charlotte, NC.
No travel is anticipated.
