Assistant Controller
SUMMARY
Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the cost accounting system, policies, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with the monthly close process including journal entries related to inventory, overhead absorption, calculating manufacturing variances, overhead spending compared to budget, month end costing procedures etc.
- Develop, monitor and update standard costs
- Perform and oversee daily costing activities including cost rolling / copying and inventory transaction review.
- Conducts periodic analysis of specific margin drivers including, but not limited to, cost of purchased raw material, capital spending, asset utilization and labor cost and develops improvement plans to be implemented in coordination with respective functional leaders.
- Assists in the development of financial budgets, forecasting models, forecasts the company’s future financial position and participates in the development of alternative strategic options to maximize shareholder value
- Assists with any auditor or bank requests as needed
- Assists to operations for bill of materials and routings
- Prepare weekly operations performance measurement report
- Participate in Operation Leadership Team meetings
- Participate in Business Management Team meetings
- Conducts cost studies and analyses as needed
- Assists in the development of the annual budget and business plan
- Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory requirements as well as company policies and procedures
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages one to two employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field and at least five years’ cost accounting experience.
- Completed or in progress CPA desired
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to read and accurately interpret business income statements.
- Ability to work in Microsoft Excel including familiarity with basic functions such as xlookup, sumif etc.
- Ability to operate a PC utilizing current computer applications. Ability to use the business planning computer information system. Good communication is required. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
