Welder/Fabricator
SUMMARY
Create and repair metal products through the MIG welding process and effective utilization of other fabrication tools. Expected to always operate in a safe manner; that includes operating equipment, operating to avoid material damage, and situational awareness to what is going on around workstation. Responsible for a quality product that is produced expediently. All work will be self-inspected and go through lead inspection as well as QA inspection for compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the
following:
- Read blueprints and drawings to ensure proper layout and configuration
- Follow appropriate weld procedure according to the drawings as needed per joint
- Prepare components for fit up/assembly according to drawing & specifications (e.g. bevel, drill holes, miter)
- Operate angle grinders, magnetic drills, handheld plasma, oxy torch to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Align components in the jig using calipers, tape measure, level, etc. and clamp pieces into jig for fit up
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical & horizontal)
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
- Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory requirements as well as company policies and procedures

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- One year certificate from college or technical school; one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years’ experience in metal fabrication
- Proficiency in MIG welding
- Experienced AWS welding
- Experience using electrical and manual tools
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, walk, hear, reach with hands and arms, stoop and bend. The employee must seldom lift and/or move more than 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The production area temperatures can fluctuate significantly based on the time of year. The noise levels can be moderate to high. The use of hearing protection and safety eyewear is required while on production floor. The use of additional specific safety equipment may be required. The noise level in the office is usually quiet. The noise level in production is usually moderate.
WORK AVAILABLITY
Must have the ability to work all shift schedules, periodic overtime and be available for periodic weekend work.
