Compounder - 2nd shift
Summary:
The compounder is responsible for blending all raw materials required in the preparation of bulk product batches. This individual is responsible for accurately following manufacturing processes from beginning to end and recording all pertinent information. Individual will combine raw materials according to specified formula and/or recipe, observe temperatures, reactions, record necessary batch information, as well as obtain in-process and final batch samples at designated times to ensure quality and consistency of manufactured product. Individual in this position is responsible for carrying out changeovers smoothly & efficiently, Works directly with compounding Team Lead, Industrial Chemist, QA, and R&D personnel to ensure that products are properly blended, and ingredients used in the batch can be traced by quantity and lot.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- According to established formula and manufacturing process, weighs, stages and blends all raw materials in the appropriate batching tank
- Ensures that batch card procedures are strictly followed
- Completes all necessary batch documentation according to standard operating procedure
- Uses scan gun to enter necessary batching data into SAP.
- Operates all processing industrial equipment according to operational procedures, safety requirements and GMP regulations
- Cleans and sanitizes batching tanks, piping, pumps, and other related equipment in accordance with area SOP’s
- Performs changeovers in a seamless and efficient manner
- Obtains in-process and final batching samples and delivers to the Industrial Chemist and/or QA for testing
- Performs product rework or adjustments as required
- Ensures coverage of in process batches when on break
- Performs all work in a manner that is consistent with the company’s quality policy, good manufacturing practices, including always maintaining a clean and orderly working area
- Complies and enforces Aromair Safety policies and practices
- Assists in maintaining all supplies by communicating as needed with the Compounding Team lead and Focused Factory Manager.
- Participates on cross-functional teams to assist with continuous improvement projects and/or supporting work
- Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- College chemistry courses such as analytical chemistry are a plus.
- At least 2 years of experience in a batching position within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Previous experience with automated inline filling, capping, and labeling equipment is a plus
- Thorough knowledge of GMP requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of: FDA Good Manufacturing Practices and OSHA Safety Requirements: understanding color coding mixing chemicals based on formulation.
- Skill in effective planning and organizational skills, maintaining a good working pace based on equipment driven speeds, self – motivation, and ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Ability to: read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions including Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions; wear required PPE as needed, work as part of a team; develop and maintain good working relationships; ability to multi-task in a busy high stress environment, able to work independently without constant supervision.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Must be able to occasionally lift, u to 50 pounds manually.
- Working on high level of noise into different areas while performing day to day task – example performing changeover on HSL, mixing fragrance using motorized equipment: A climate-controlled office environment; the noise level is usually moderately quiet
- Pull and push 800 lbs. fragrance and other chemicals using pallet jack. Must be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, crouch, talk, hear, push and pull
- Exposure to frequent movement of motorized equipment throughout the facility, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, pumps etc.
