Position Summary:

 

Pivotree’s Data Management Practice Director is the senior most Data subject matter expert within the company and responsible for developing differentiated offerings, driving aggressive growth, and ensuring customers achieve (exceed) their business objectives. They engage directly with the market (vendors, prospects, customers, analysts, etc.) to grow the business, raise brand awareness in the market, and strategically position Pivotree to bring its full value to customers.

Engaging with Go-To-Market (GTM), Delivery, and Product teams, the Data Management Practice Director develops and oversees strategies designed to grow the business, optimize our capabilities, and enhance the practice’s value proposition in-part by defining best practices, contributing to data solutions and driving business value through data-driven insights.

The Data Management Practice Director will work directly with partners to develop comprehensive strategies for Pivotree to implement, support, and optimize the full breadth of the vendor’s capabilities. Additionally, the Practice Director works with other Pivotree Practice Directors and internal teams to leverage the vendor’s assets to drive aggressive growth for Pivotree (i.e., embedding Pivotree products, strategic ventures, vendor resale of Pivotree products and services, etc).

A successful candidate will be entrepreneurial - always trying to think about how to obtain the next 10 customers. They understand both the business and technical capabilities of their practice and are capable of engaging directly with customers in early stage sales cycles. They understand how to get from current state to future state and can validate, coach, problem solve, and continuously improve Delivery’s capabilities to execute projects for the Data Management practice.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement the strategic vision for the data management practice, aligning it with the organization’s overall business objectives.
  • Define, maintain and evolve a service catalog related to data strategy, data governance, data integration, data quality, master data management (MDM), and advanced analytics.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations in data management and analytics to ensure the practice remains competitive and cutting-edge.
  • Serve as the Data Management “face of Pivotree” that provides thought leadership, including participation in relevant technical & industry forums and events.

Growth

  • Assist in building strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders, positioning the company as a trusted partner in data management and analytics.
  • Build and nurture partner relationships to become their top system implementer.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to identify new business opportunities, develop proposals, and participate in customer presentations.
  • Work with Pivotree Leadership to develop pricing strategies and service packaging to drive revenue growth within the data management practice.
  • Consult with peer Practice Directors to expand the services catalog to drive offerings that lead to recurring revenue.
  • Work with product teams to develop and embed products within the service catalog, methodology and tool set.

Delivery

  • Work closely with customers to understand their business objectives and recommend data management solutions that drive tangible results.
  • Ensure the delivery of data management projects meet customer expectations in terms of scope, budget, timelines, and quality.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for major projects, providing guidance and resolving challenges in collaboration with project teams.
  • Collaborate with Delivery to drive AI/ML and other technologies into the methodology and tool sets in order to drive efficiencies and ensure quality outputs.

Management

  • Own and manage the financial performance of the data management practice, ensuring profitability and alignment with the company’s financial goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture that promotes innovation and excellence in data management solutions.
  • Contribute to training program development to ensure the team is equipped with the latest skills and knowledge required to deliver high-quality services.
  • Where required, participate in hiring activities to ensure top talent are brought into the practice.
  • Assist with resource management activities to ensure proper skillset allocation and resource utilization KPIs are achieved.

 

 

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in data management, including data strategy, governance, architecture, and analytics, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in sales processes specifically in defining, costing, pricing, and contracting service offerings within the Data Management domain.
  • Ability to drive thought leadership through whitepapers, blogs, or speaking engagements in the data management domain.
  • Proven experience owning and managing an organization's financial performance.
  • Strong understanding of cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), ETL/ELT processes, MDM, and data governance tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of data management frameworks and best practices, including data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data integration.
  • Experience with enterprise data technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, big data platforms, and data warehousing solutions.
  • Familiarity with modern analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and machine learning/AI frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a focus on team development and performance management across global teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging with C-suite stakeholders as well as technical teams.
  • Demonstrated success in continuously improving delivery methodologies and toolsets.
  • Ability to deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations under pressure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Preferred: Prior experience of operating in a Practice-type model within a professional services environment requiring 3rd Party Vendor management.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their impact on data management practices.
  • Preferred: Relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, DAMA, TOGAF, or cloud data certifications).
