GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director,this position will be responsible for he cleanliness of the facility, which will include working with cleaning chemicals and equipment, operating back pack vacuums, up right vacuums, carpet extractors, rotary floor machines and climbing ladders.
KNOW HOW
Candidates must at least 18 years old.
No experience required.
Attend mandatory trainings such as New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention and YMCA Safety & Risk Management within 60-90 days of employment.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform simple maintenance and housekeepingtasks, such as cleaning restrooms/showers, floors, windows, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, setting up rooms,/arranging furniture and removing trash.
Providing notification of janitorial supplies and equipment needing replenished.
The daily duties also include and are not limited to keeping the building in a clean and orderly condition.
Perform heavy cleaning duties on occasion, such as shampooing rugs, washing walls, and removing rubbish.
Duties also include, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk and other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to walk, stand, sit, tilt head, stretch, push/pull and/or lift objects, use all muscles and work in a kneeling or reaching position
Ability to be in a crouching position and regularly twist body at the waist, shoulders or legs
Ability to lift or stack materials weighing 50 lbs. up to a distance of 200 feet
Ability to occasionally lift items weighing 100 lbs.
Ability to work in areas or on equipment that often creates conditions of dust and/or dampness
Ability to work with chemicals, solvents, cleaners and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray and aerosol forms according to OSHA guidelines
Ability to stand on ladders
Ability to use close/color vision and to adjust focus
Ability to work in a variety of environments (i.e. indoor, outdoor, warm, cold and noisy)
Ability to reason, solve problems and make sound decisions, even when distracted by noise and activity
Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies by administering CPR and First Aid effectively.

Acquaint members with other YMCA programs and benefits.
Develop relationships that promote the building of small communities.
Recommend participation in a variety of YMCA programs.
Support our YMCA annual campaign, and invite members to participate.
Be able to articulate the role and importance of volunteers.
Be informed about volunteer opportunities.
Provide an environment in which valuing diversity is encouraged and the 40 Developmental Assets can be built and encouraged.
