As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including a focus on payroll reporting, general accounting, and financial analysis. This role is vital for ensuring financial transparency and compliance within the company. We value analytical thinking and problem-solving, and we're seeking someone who can approach challenges with a sense of common-sense investigation.

 

What you'll do:

  • Leverage financial, business, and ERP knowledge to drive process improvements and create efficiencies for the team. Recommend & lead certain improvements to accounting system and business processes.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to assist with reports creation through reporting tools to fit business needs. 
  • Review the monthly financial results and compare vs. Budget and forecast with investigation into the cause of the variances and corrections where necessary.
  • Manage and lead payroll reporting, ensuring accurate recording of payroll related transactions and upholding confidential management of transactions.
  • Responsible for analytical support for payroll and other financial transactions.
  • Responsible for the accurate, timely monthly preparation of month-end balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis. Analyze balance changes, solving discrepancies and suggesting process improvements.
  • Manage a variety of accounting duties, including processing month-end transactions and journal entries including payroll loads, accruals, and other account adjustments.
  • Provide support in reviewing new IFRS standards, drafting accounting memos, and conducting impact assessments for Superior Propane, in collaboration with the Assistant Controller and Controller.
  • Responsible for managing the payroll and pension accounting processes including the preparation of the annual financial statements for the company pension plan and interactions with the Actuaries, HR, payroll and external auditors as required.
  • Assist with the completion of the Quarterly Notes Package to Superior Plus.
  • Assist with the coordination and completion of the tie out of the financial statements, supporting documentation and MD&A.
  • Assist with the quarterly and annual audit and provide supporting documentation to the internal and external auditors.
  • Assist with certain aspects of Stittco Accounting & reporting.
  • Actively participate in special projects with full accountability for timely deliverables.

 

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) or in the final stages of completion is an asset.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably with some focus on payroll reporting.
  • Acute attention to detail, essential for managing extensive data sets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical IFRS accounting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with ERP Systems, Workday, ADDS, and Workday Adaptive Planning is a plus.
