Reporting directly to Field Operations Manager and collaborating daily with the Delivery/Service Coordinator, the Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of equipment to our customers. This includes, but is not limited to setting, installation and removal of tanks, tank evacuations and moving of heavy equipment throughout the market area. The Crane Operator will be accountable for upholding the highest standards of safety in the delivery, handling and securement of propane tanks and equipment along with the necessary documentation.

What you’ll do:

  • Load and unload propane tanks and equipment from Superior facilities and customer locations. Determine load weights and check against lifting capacity to prevent overload.
  • Ensure proper placement and leveling of tank, ensuring code requirements are met.
  •  Safely and effectively perform tank evacuations, including hooking hoses to and from stationary tanks to the bulk truck for propane transfer, lifting and securing tanks and properly using compressor/pumps.
  •  Transfer, collect, load and deliver propane product to and from containers (bulk truck, tanks and/or cylinders) for customers. Initiate and conduct the asset verification process.
  •  Prepare all tanks for service including the replacement of valves and lids and maintain accurate documentation of all such repairs performed.
  •  Maintain adequate level of parts inventory for tank sets including blocks, planks etc.
  •  Leverage technology by utilizing (Pegasus) to track movement throughout the day.
  • Monitor and track the transfer of propane inventory, tank levels and container sizing.
  •  Accurately record and write out delivery tickets/service orders for customers for product delivered or evacuated.
  • Accurately complete and submit all reports, daily service work orders and log book.
  • Conduct and maintain the highest standard of safety in all activities and operations ensuring compliance with the regulatory bodies and relevant regulations. This includes conducting and, if applicable documenting, pre and post vehicle and crane inspections, customer site inspections, facility inspections, visual tank inspections and yard maintenance
  •  Conduct a monthly physical inventory count of tanks and propane.
  • Ensure current training certification and licensing is on person at all times.
  • Maintain equipment to the highest level of safety standards, reporting any mechanical issues to the Field Operations Manager/Delivery or Service Coordinator.
  • Immediately notify the Delivery/Service Coordinator and/or Field Operations Manager of any potential issues, infractions, or accidents. Prepare and submit necessary paperwork accurately detailing the incident to the Delivery/Service Coordinator within the appropriate timelines.
  • Collaborate with the Delivery/Service Coordinator frequently for routing and scheduling information. Notify the Delivery/Service Coordinator of any product, customer, routing, scheduling or safety issues immediately to obtain their guidance and instruction on how to resolve the issue or situation.

 

What you bring:

  • High School education.
  • Minimum of one (1) of year experience.
  • Appropriate provincial driver’s license with an air brake ticket and clean drivers abstract.
  • Crane Certification required.
  • TDG & WHMIS training with certification is an asset.
  • PTI courses as per the National Training Matrix.
  • Thorough knowledge of crane trucks, including lifting capabilities, weight restrictions, etc.
  • Ability to use hand and arm signals for installing, handling, positioning and other requirements to operate cranes.
  • Knowledge of geographic area is an asset.
  • Trained in use of compressors/pumps to perform tank evacuations.
  • Must have general knowledge of B149.
