We are seeking an experienced Data Steward; the desired candidate will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure that data is properly managed, secured, and efficaciously available for a multitude of purposes. This role will be central in ensuring the consistency, accuracy, and accessibility of data across the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Data Governance & Management:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security within the enterprise data warehouse.
    • Manage and document metadata, data lineage, and data dictionary to ensure stakeholders have clarity on data sources, transformations, and uses.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data quality rules and KPIs that ensure the reliability of the data.
  • Data Quality Assurance:
    • Perform regular audits and assessments of data quality, working proactively to resolve any issues related to data integrity, duplication, or inconsistency.
    • Develop and maintain data validation processes and monitor adherence to data quality standards.
    • Identify data discrepancies and work with engineering and IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve them.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact between business units and engineering teams for data-related initiatives, translating business requirements into technical specifications.
    • Educate and train stakeholders on best practices for data management, including data classification, data lifecycle, and regulatory compliance.
    • Work closely with data engineers, data architects, and analysts to ensure that the enterprise data warehouse infrastructure supports business goals and operational needs.
  • Data Security & Compliance:
    • Ensure that enterprise data infrastructure complies with relevant regulatory requirements, including data privacy and internal security policies.
    • Collaborate with engineering and security teams to develop and implement protocols for data access controls and audit logs.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Monitor emerging trends and technologies in data management and data warehousing and recommend improvements to systems and processes.
    • Proactively identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and increased data utilization.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data governance, data quality management, or data stewardship, preferably in an enterprise data warehousing environment.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including ETL processes, data modeling, and relational databases.
  • Experience working with data management tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and data warehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks related to data privacy and security.
  • Experience with SQL and data querying tools is preferred.

 

Desired Skills:

 

  • Familiarity with cloud-based data storage and computing environments.
  • Certifications in data management or data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) are a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize complex data issues into actionable insights.
