We are strengthening our development capabilities and looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our growing R&D team in South Africa.

Where do you fit in?

Leads solution designing effort, organizes and develops software designing practices improvements for specific product line/initiative. Performs solution design, solves complex problems, systems analysis, and programming activities which often require research.  Is an expert in his area of experties and a partner for the line and technical manager. 

As part of our team, your main responsibilities will be:

• Performs design, implementation and maintenance of product modules/sub-systems according to architecture, guidelines and good software engineering practice. 
•  Responsible for product’s usability by designing user interfaces, creating use cases, implementing prototypes and conducting usability tests. 
• Performs bug verification, release testing and support for assigned products.  Researches problems discovered by validation or product support and develops solutions to the problems. 
• Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.
• Researches new technology or development tools to remain abreast of current technology.
• In the absence of the Software Architect, is capable to serve as the software architect in the areas of design and implementation in order to meet project objectives and documentation. 
• Organizes trainings and developer meetings for software engineers regularly; Develops improvements for software designing practices as needed. 
• Leads software developing effort and engages efficient and good co-operation between stakeholders (architects, POs, software designers, validation, product management, customers etc other stakeholders).

Decision making and influence:

• Coaches and mentors software engineers.
• Helps and trains fellow developers to work with new product components / modules, to follow company coding practices and architectural guidelines. 

Experience:

•  M.Sc/B.Sc Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems. 
• 10+ years of software development experience. 
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal. 
• Mastery in at least 1 development language, preferred Java, provable experience in web services development and/ or app development.
• Technologies: REST APIs, Virtualization/Cloud: AWS, Azure, Docker, K8s, Skaffold, Monitoring: Dynatrace, Front-End Technologies: React.JS, TypeScript,JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, XML, XSLT, Devops experience. 
• Development with AI tools.  

Specific knowledge Java -  special section SW Engineers Java 

• Backend Java: Java (Spring), Java EE, JUnit (or similar but willing to code in JAVA)  

• Front-End Technologies: React.JS, TypeScript, Rollup, Webpack, Babel, CSS(SASS), Jest, React Testing Library  

• Native mobile development 

• Build tools: Maven APIs: REST 

• DB: RDBMS , SQL based
