Job Summary:

The 4-H Youth Development Summer LTE will increase his/her knowledge of youth development programs, community partnerships, volunteer development, and the 4-H Program Educator responsibilities. This summer position provides valuable pre-professional experience for educational and community-based careers. The 4-H Youth Development Summer Intern is supervised by the Extension Coordinator and the 4-H Program Educator.

 

Approximately June 2, 2025, to September 1, 2025, (dates negotiable upon educational schedule). Approximately 20 hours per week.  Flexible hours as needed and upon request including some nights and weekends.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the supervision and delivery of 4-H Day Camp and residential camp programs, as well as school programming, Dairy Brunch, Shawano County Fair, and additional needs as determined. 
  • Contribute and deliver programs as a member of the “4-H team”. This team consists of support staff, 4-H Program Educator and the Extension Coordinator.
  • Help promote 4-H through a variety of avenues - social media, print media, radio, newsletters, etc.
  • Assist in training and coordination for overnight and day camp counselors.
  • Assist in the communication with and coordination of 4-H activities in the Extension office.
  • Assist in Extension additional short term programming as opportunities arise.
  • Prepare materials and make connections to promote 4-H throughout the county for the upcoming 4-H year.
  • Develop an activities summary at the conclusion of the summer that records participation and outcome evaluation.
  • If schedule allows, be present at the Shawano County Fair and provide assistance and leadership to youth judging and scheduled events as needed.

Work Requirements:

  • One year of college.
  • Experience in youth-related outreach education preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software and Google Platform.
