Sewing Assembler- Manufacturing

Reporting to the Line Leader, the Assembler operates a wide variety of sewing machines to join parts of fabricated articles or garments in accordance with product instructions, product sample and customer specifications.
- Performs basic or more advanced sewing tasks and techniques on automated and industrial sewing equipment with knowledge of safe working procedures
- Sets up sewing machine with proper tools, sets stitches, needles and/or attachments to meet required product/contract requirement
- Performs various sewing tasks such as top stitching, installing zippers, pockets and pocket welts
- Performs other non-routine tasks which may include grommeting, snaps, drills, marking, clip and turn, heat press, sonic seal and other finer detailed sewing operations
- Forms pattern pieces and attaches built components
- Conducts in-line inspections for quality purposes
- May repair units that fail inspection
- Monitors and meets required target

- Maintains respectful communication with co-workers and supervisory staff
- Familiar with the Company’s ISO Quality Policy and understands the impact of this position on the competitiveness and performance of the company
- Trained in the requirements of NIJ Standard-0101.06 Ballistic Resistance of Body Armorand to facilitate conformity to the NIJ body Armor Compliance Testing Programspecifications
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Complies with and follows Health & Safety policies and how it applies to daily duties
- Maintains good house keeping skills
Qualifications:
- Minimum grade 10 and/or proven work experience
- 13 months to 2 years of related work experience in either a cutting or sewing environment considered an asset
- Good communication skills both orally and written
- Must have flexibility to work various shifts
- Attention to detail and a positive attitude are necessary
- Must have basic math skills including fraction recognition using both metric and standard measurements
- Good working computer skills; MS Office software – MS Word, Excel
