PLC Programmer

Supervisor: Automation Manager

Compensation: Starting salary range $65,000 - $100,000; Commensurate to Skills and Experience

Schedule: 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm; & On Call

Maas Energy Works (MEW) is the leading developer and operator of on-farm, waste-to-energy systems in the United States. The Company designs, develops, constructs, and operates biogas renewable energy generation systems, primarily on dairy farms. Our projects include anaerobic digesters, biogas-powered electric generation, renewable natural gas upgrading.

Position Description
MEW is seeking a highly motivated PLC Programmer / Automation Technician to join our automation team to provide technical support and help to develop software solutions that support the growth and sustainability of renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate is reliable, is a self-starter, is a free thinker, and has an eye toward improvement, optimization, and security.

Responsibilities

• Develop software/hardware solutions to address the specific needs of renewable energy projects
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define project goals
• Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance to ensure software/hardware performance and reliability
• Maintain and support existing software applications, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and create scalable software solutions
• Assist in maintaining backups of programs and changes
• Assist in maintaining documentation of new sites and changes to existing sites
• Assist in project tracking and documentation

Qualifications & Skills

• Experienced Allen Bradley, Studio 5000 programming skills
• Experience preferred in Ignition, Aveva, Wonderware, C-more, Automation Direct
• Some knowledge or experience in IT and networking
• Some knowledge of electrical systems and safe practices
• Some knowledge of Automated systems such as VFDs, pneumatics, analog pressure and temperature sensors, 4-20mA controls, 24V discrete controls, relays, contactors, Modbus485, and ModbusTCP
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex requirements
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
• Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies and programming languages
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Demands Requirements

Work Environment (Office)
This job partially operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands (Travel)
Travel may be required occasionally. This would require the ability to enter, travel in, and exit vehicles and airplanes.
