About the Role

 

The Trading Assistant will play a critical role in providing administrative and operational support to the Disciplined Alpha credit trading desk. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing product team with over $20 bn in AUM.  This is a position with advancement potential for a high performer. 

The DA team follows a hybrid work schedule with 3 set days WFO and 2 set days WFH.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Trade processing; including data entry, new security setup, account allocation, compliance monitoring, and resolving operational/settlement issues with both internal and external counterparts
  • Mastery and frequent use of various risk, accounting, and trade order management systems
  • Be a major conduit of information on the trading desk.
  • Relay information to/from trading counterparties.
  • Communicate with DA team and Street sales coverage to track new issue orders and allocations.
  • Interacting with various firm systems and making suggestions for process improvements.
  • Problem prevention – understanding potential risk areas and preventing trade or operational errors.
  • Participate in and help prepare materials for investment team meetings. 
  • Assist PMs with being an additional Loomis Sayles research liaison.
  • Track spreads and build relative value tools.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Math, Computer Science preferred required
  • 1-3 years’ experience on a trading desk or operations ideal
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to learn new systems is required. Coding (Python or Matlab) experience is a plus.
  • Solid math and quantitative skills.
  • Can fluidly prioritize competing demands for time and attention.  Unflappable.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high level of self-management.
  • Keen attention to detail and highly organized
  • Financial markets experience, specifically Fixed Income, is a significant plus

Additional Requirements

A trading desk is a high intensity, fast-paced work environment with rapidly shifting priorities and a highly nuanced language.

This position also represents the team to external groups. Personal qualities that would help a candidate be successful in this job include:

• Desire to work in an operational/trade support role on a well-established fixed income trading desk
• Ability to handle stress and multiple demands with aplomb and efficiency
• Morning person (approximate start time 5:30 a.m. PST) 
• Thoughtful approach to risk mitigation and operational control

 

Salary 90-120k
