Marine Operations Manager

Job Summary
The Marine Operations Manager oversees tankerman and on-call dock operations. This person supports multiple tankerman supervisors across the full range of operations activities including employee selection, training and development, performance management, execution of Loadstar business plans, safety, customer relations, problem solving, work coverage, emergency response, incident investigation, and continuous improvement. Marine Operations Managers report to the VP of Marine Operations.
Job Requirements
- Licensed USGC Tankerman – minimum 10 years’ experience
- Must possess valid & current TWIC and medical card
- Supervisor or leadership experience
- Knowledge of business management procedures, workflow, and organizational structure
- Experience in incident investigation, root cause, and report preparation
- Strong work history based on employer references
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and support to marine supervisors
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships
- Assist with tankerman recruiting and selection
- Ensure tankerman training is delivered successfully and timely
- Develop leadership skills within each supervisor using measurable targets
- Ensure that Loadstar safety, environmental, and other performance targets are communicated to supervisors and employees, monitored, and achieved.
- Work with supervisors to identify and develop high potential employees as future leaders
- Serve as a role model in support of the Loadstar culture
- Work with HR to develop and maintain appropriate staffing levels to meet demand
- Perform job observations and coaching for tankermen in the field and coach supervisors on best practices for same
- Provide development plans for workers and identify future leaders
- Help supervisors prepare for and deliver safety meetings including required training.
- Communicate and implement changes in company policies and procedures
- Respond appropriately to incidents, lead the investigation, and prepare and follow up with reports and corrective actions
- Share information with peers and be open to feedback to continuously develop best practices for Loadstar

- Speak fluent English, write, read, hear, and have good vision
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms
- Frequently use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
