Loadstar provides product handling and site logistics services to refineries, chemical plants, barge lines and terminals. We load and unload all classes of cargos into railcars, trucks, barges, and ships; we operate docks, tank farms, terminals, and warehouses; and we manage site logistics for marine, rail, truck, and pipeline. We aim to be the provider of these services in the industry, providing outstanding customer service and a superior employee experience.

Marine Supervisors are responsible for the success of Loadstar’s Marine Operations.  Supervisors provide leadership and support to all Tankerman for whom they are responsible.  This support includes the safe and reliable execution of work activities pursuant to Loadstar and customer procedure and applicable regulations.

Job Requirements

 

  • Must hold current and valid:
    • U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC)
    • Coast Guard medical card
    • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
    • Driver's License
  • Reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and telephone
  • Ability to work on-call including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as primary contact for customer communications, service needs, problems, and opportunities
  • Understand all procedures, policies, and guidelines that are mandated and ensure employees understand and comply
  • Maintain high employee morale by leading and supporting the team
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and ready for work each shift
  • Participate in applicant interviews and hiring
  • Lead by example
  • Continuously aid all field employees
  • Ensure training of newly hired/licensed field workers is completed satisfactorily
  • Certify newly hired/licensed are confident in position and ready for field work
  • Conduct employee evaluations and encourage development and succession planning
  • Carry out employee discipline and coaching meetings
  • Quickly respond to operational incidents and ensure proper corrective action has been taken, lessons learned are discussed, and investigations are completed
  • Embrace safety and environmental care as a core valve of leadership
  • Conduct audits on field employees at job sites routinely
  • Conduct safety meetings to educate and discuss observation findings
  • Work with Loadstar Marine Logistics on work coverages and problem solving

 

Job Qualifications

 

  • Supervisor or Leadership experience
  • Minimum 5 years in Shoreside Tankerman position
  • 18 years or older
  • Legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Consistent work history with good references from past employers
  • Must complete pre-employment requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug and alcohol testing, and background check.

Physical Requirements

 

  • Speak, write, and read fluent English
  • Work outside in all types of conditions for extended periods
  • Pass a required medical examination
  • Properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Lift, carry, grip, hold, and/or pull up to 75 pounds
  • Walk one to six miles per day
  • Climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and/or ramps
  • Step as much as two feet horizontal and vertical and extend arms through normal range of motion while standing and squatting
