Incoming Quality Inspector- Second Shift - kdc/one Columbus

Summary:
The Incoming Materials Quality Inspector performs inspection of all incoming components and labels and ensures compliance to all applicable customer and regulatory requirements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs inspection of all incoming components using customer standards, certified test equipment/tools, and ANSI/ASQC inspection standards.
- Receives incoming labels into SAP and performs inspection of labels using customer standards and scanning software.
- Records and scans inspection results in appropriate database.
- Completes form, fit and function testing on new components.
- Performs transactions in SAP to contain components and labels during inspection, and to release for production accordingly once inspections are complete.
- Maintains customer component inspection standards.
- Creates KDC Label Standards used to ensure customer and regulatory compliance in the Label room and Production Department.
- Communicates quality alerts to management and Quality Inspectors.
- Places any components or labels not meeting the quality standards on hold for further quality review.
- Navigates through SAP to investigate and troubleshoot quality issues and to contain non-conforming components and labels.
- Performs AQL inspections on potential out-of-spec components and labels, as required.
- Communicates with management and/or vendors/suppliers on quality issues.
- Directs and performs all work in a manner that is consistent with the company’s quality system and FDA good manufacturing practices, includes always maintaining a clean and orderly production area.
- Follows, promotes, and enforces KDC’s safety and environmental policies, practices, and procedures.
- Completes SOPs, Work Instructions, ANSI/ASQC inspection standards, SAP transactions, label standards, and other paperwork according to established company policy.
- Maintains confidentiality of customer information, inspection standards, quality records, and other sensitive and confidential information. Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed due to workplace demands.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED with proficiency in math; college courses preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in quality inspection or mechanical, industrial, or technical fields.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of: FDA Good Manufacturing Practices and OSHA Safety Requirements, SAP experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office), oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to: read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions including Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions; wear required PPE as needed (hairnet, safety glasses, long pants, steel toe shoes or boots); work as part of a team; develop and maintain good working relationships; using measuring and testing devices, such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures; familiarity with reading blueprints and technical drawings

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds manually.
- A climate-controlled warehouse environment; the noise level is usually moderate
- Must be able to sit, bend, stoop, climb, and stand for long periods of time in one place
- Exposure to frequent movement of motorized equipment throughout the facility, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
