Production Line Leader-Weekend Crew

Summary:
The Production Line Leader is responsible for the general oversight of filling and packaging line operations in accordance with standard operation procedures (SOP) and work instructions (WI).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads the activities of production employees to ensure performance expectations and production schedules are met according to established company standards.
- Trains production employees on all applicable procedures, work instructions, housekeeping guidelines and manufacturing directions.
- Verifies the proper accountability of wet and dry scrap daily, coaches’ employees to the correct scrap location for proper disposal. Ensures that scrap counts submitted are accurate on the daily report and scrap logs.
- Prepares and maintains accurate and timely documentation in accordance with applicable SOPs and WI; reconciles all packets with finished goods inventory that has been entered through gatekeeping in SAP
- Assists leadership with investigating failures, incidents and deviations to assure that root causes are identified.
- Performs or coordinates quality checks on an ongoing basis for proper appearance, weight, torque and identifies discrepancies and initiates resolution as required.
- Interacts with other departments in coordinating production schedules, bulk product transfers, new product start-ups, new commodity trials and other related projects.
- Performs all work in a manner that is consistent with the company’s quality system and FDA good manufacturing practices, including maintaining a clean and orderly production area at all times.
- Follows, promotes and enforces safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures as required by the federal and local regulations.
- Verifies all production employees have received necessary training and are following all applicable SOP’s, Work Instructions, and cGMP’s procedures.
- Assists the safety department and safety committee with investigations and corrective actions related to safety hazards and/or incidents.
- Completes SOPs, Work Instructions, and other paperwork according to established company policy.
- Maintains confidentiality of customer information, product information and other sensitive and confidential information.
- Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed due to workplace demands. Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent degree is strongly preferred.
- Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- In lieu of previous manufacturing experience, two years of supervisory experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of: FDA Good Manufacturing Practices and OSHA Safety Requirements: SAP, HMI.
- Skill in: solving problems.
- Ability to: read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions including Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions; wear required PPE as needed (e.g. safety shoes, hair net, lab coat, protective eyewear); work as part of a team; develop and maintain good working relationships; multi-task; manage time effectively; maintain a positive attitude;

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds manually.
- A climate-controlled production environment; the noise level is usually moderately loud.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time in front of production equipment, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, crouch, talk, hear, push and pull
- Exposure to frequent movement of motorized equipment throughout the facility, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
