We have an immediate opening for an experienced 3rd shift Operations Manager who will be responsible for leading, planning, organizing and directing all activities in the compounding, filling and packaging operations during 3rd shift with the goal of delivering targeted batching and filling volume according to established production schedule so the company can meet customer and financial goals.     

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and manages the activities of the production and compounding workforce, including permanent and temporary employees to ensure production schedules are met within quality, safety, and operational standards.  
  • Trains, coaches, and develops employees in compounding and filling departments to ensure performance expectations and department objectives are met according to established standards; manages performance expectations, delivers feedback, and maintains high levels of employee engagement ensuring positive employee relations.  
  • Acts as a liaison between shifts to help maintain momentum of operations and guarantees sustained operational equipment effectiveness during shift change; coordinates with other departments on planning and scheduling production runs, changeovers, and other related activities.
  • Recommends improvements to equipment and/or methods to improve operational equipment effectiveness (OEE), labor utilization and quality requirements; analyzes and prioritizes equipment reliability issues stemming from problem solving and sets improved standards.
  • Implements and drives cost controls over variables relating to supplies, overtime, etc. delivering budget.
  • Drives process improvement by leveraging problem solving tools and best manufacturing practices.
  • Controls operational costs, including but not limited to standard labor costs, inventory costs, scrap rates and equipment downtime, to ensure the production department operates within the set budget.
  • Performs all work in a manner that is consistent with the company’s quality system and FDA good manufacturing practices and always maintains a clean and orderly production area.
  • Follows, promotes, and enforces safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures as required by the federal and local regulations. 
  • Assures all production and compounding employees have received necessary training and are following all applicable SOP’s, Work Instructions, and cGMp procedures.
  • Assists the safety department and safety committee with investigations and corrective actions related to safety hazards and/or incidents.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D or equivalent degree is required.  Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Management, Operations Management or related field is strongly preferred.  In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 (five) years’ experience in a filling/packaging environment is required. 
  • Minimum of 2 (two) years of supervisory experience in a filling and packaging environment is required; cosmetics or pharmaceutical experience is strongly preferred.
