Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Architect to lead our current strategy and continue our transformation efforts digital transformation and in Microsoft Azure. This role is essential to support our growth and modernization initiatives, ensuring scalable, secure, and optimized cloud infrastructure that aligns with our business needs. The position is a senior technical member within the information technology group that is responsible for the technical standards, architectural design, software design, and delivery of software solutions and services spanning our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), and custom .NET Blazor applications and other platforms as we modernize our infrastructure and software stack. The Architect will design, implement, and manage cloud solutions, collaborating with various departments to drive innovation and operational efficiency.
They will serve as a critical and collaborative member of the team to establish best practices, ensure code quality, and engage in mentoring opportunities. This role is core to building a seamless and interconnected experience for our stakeholders across the organization. Responsibilities
- Continue the development and implementation of a comprehensive Microsoft Azure cloud strategy to support the organization’s goals. Design cloud infrastructure solutions that ensure scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency
- Create architectural blueprints (Archi) and standards for cloud adoption, including networking, storage, compute, security, and application deployment on Azure. Work on research, technical analysis, and prototyping to solve business challenges, and technical modernization
- Establish best practices for cloud governance, ensuring compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
- Identify and implement security controls, managing risks related to cloud environments. Collaborate with the security team to ensure robust data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
- Analyze and optimize cloud costs, identifying areas for efficiency. Ensure cloud usage aligns with budgetary constraints and offers maximum ROI
- Partner with development, data, and operations teams to support application migration and deployment. Provide guidance and training to technical staff on Azure best practices
- Stay up to date on the latest Azure developments and best practices. Proactively recommend and implement new cloud solutions to enhance business operations and productivity
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud architecture, with at least 3 years focusing on Microsoft Azure solutions
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or similar are preferred
- In-depth knowledge of Azure services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, databases, and security
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, ARM templates), scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python), and monitoring tools
- Knowledge of Data Warehouse, Data Vault 2.0+, and Azure Managed SQL Server a plus
- Knowledge of how to work in SAFe Agile methodology a plus
- Strong problem-solving abilities with experience in troubleshooting and optimizing cloud solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication, project management, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in person with cross-functional teams and convey complex cloud concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Master’s degree preferred
