Manager, Financial Reporting Systems
Security Benefit (SB) is looking for an experienced Financial Reporting Systems Manager to join our Information Technology team. SB associates are working a hybrid schedule with both remote and on-site work. What Does the Job Look Like?
This position will lead the creation and support of finance-related reports, leveraging the system solutions and data sources utilized by the Finance department. This position will also drive the reporting strategy across multiple toolsets, and make recommendations to continuously improve efficiency, quality, and usability of the Finance team’s reports.
- Lead the system reporting strategy within Finance, leveraging all available tools (currently Hyperion Financial Reporting (HFR), Essbase, Smartview, PeopleSoft nVision, PeopleSoft Query, SQL, Alteryx, and Workiva)
- Oversee Supplier Management, Invoice Processing, Payment Terms, and AP Workflows
- Develop, maintain, and support corporate finance reports (including GAAP and Statutory) out of Hyperion Financial Reporting. Work closely with the Finance teams to provide timely updates, ensuring the reports meet current business needs
- Provide support to Finance subject matter experts, ensuring they have proper training and communication to write and update their reports and queries efficiently, using best practices
- Analyze and verify consistency, completeness, quality, and controls of all finance-related reporting
- Create adhoc analysis and reports on request
- Work with IT teams to resolve ERP/EPM issues, integrations, and enhancements
- Provide input, guidance, and strategy for setup/maintenance of tables, hierarchies (trees), and measures within HFR and PeopleSoft
- Accountable for the ongoing Hyperion support including:
- HFR and Smart View development
- Identification of best practice opportunities
- Partner with IT and outside parties to implement system solutions based on requirements
- Support training related efforts as required
- Assume lead role on all Hyperion-related initiatives
- Coordinate real time support and communicate to impacted users when issues arise during close activities
- Partner with business teams to understand reporting requirements of new business initiatives
- Perform reconciliations between HFR and source systems
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of processes and implement automated enhancements
that lead to improvements in efficiency, timeliness, transparency and consistency - Collaborate with other staff to improve capabilities in communication and sharing of management reports among FP&A, Senior Management, Treasury, Investments, Investment Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax and Actuarial
- Partner with IT to lead HFR upgrade and enhancement projects, and continuously seek out new functionality within the application that can be beneficial to SB’s processes
- Lead and mentor other team members and Finance staff to develop their technical knowledge to support the applications
Who Are You?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
- Minimum 6 years’ experience of report development using Hyperion Financial Reporting
- Strong understanding of the Oracle Cloud Financials applications including GL, CM, AP, AR & Intercompany, Financial Reporting, and more
- Experience with Essbase, SmartView, PeopleSoft Financials (nVision)
- Strong GAAP, IFRS, SOX and statutory reporting capabilities
- CPA designation plus a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information processing systems, specifically Peoplesoft, is preferred
- SQL Server and/or Alteryx experience is a plus
- Willingness to continue to develop industry related knowledge
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, prioritize multiple tasks and effectively communicate with all levels of management
