Senior Network Engineer
Security Benefit (SB) is looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate may work remotely but will be required to travel to our home office in Topeka, Kansas or our New York office periodically. Security Benefit associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.

What Does the Job Look Like?
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructures. This role is critical and requires the ability to perform essential duties during crisis situations and contingency operations, which may necessitate extended work hours. This is a customer-focused, hands-on position where the Senior Network Engineer will be expected to handle and resolve customer issues efficiently.
- Network Management: Design, create, and implement scalable, resilient networks according to client specifications, both on-premises and in cloud environments.
- Technical Expertise: Configure, troubleshoot, and support Cisco series switches, routers, and wireless controllers and access points.
- Protocol Management: Work with Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and use Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), packet/protocol analyzers, and network performance tools to resolve application and network performance issues.
- Device Configuration: Install and configure various network devices, including routers, Layer-2/3 switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi.
- Standard Operating Procedures: Apply and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance and consistency.
- System Alignment: Ensure alignment of systems/network infrastructure goals with organizational needs through technical analysis.
- Capacity Planning: Assist with capacity planning and performance tuning of enterprise-level systems and network infrastructures.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot network technologies to meet established service-level agreements and organizational goals.
- Documentation: Maintain and update SOP documentation and report key performance indicators to upper management.
- Application Support: Provide application support for enterprise systems.
- 24x7x365 Environment: Manage enterprise networking configuration and maintenance in a 24x7x365 SLA production environment.
- Data and Security Governance: Apply data and security governance within an enterprise.
- Research and Documentation: Conduct in-depth research into issues and technologies, documenting current and future states during upgrades or system implementations.
- Vendor Coordination: Coordinate network circuits with various telco vendors.
- Technical Issue Resolution: Resolve technical issues with hardware (IoT devices, servers, phones, printers), software, SD-WAN, and networks.
- Disaster Recovery: Handle networking aspects of disaster recovery exercises.
- Infrastructure as Code: Provision network with infrastructure as code tools.
- Upgrades and Replacements: Upgrade and/or replace hardware and software systems as required.
- Software-Defined Networking: Demonstrate expertise in software-defined networking.
Who Are You?
- 15+ years of experience as a Network Engineer.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with Cisco, Palo Alto, Forescout, Meraki, and Zscaler network devices and software.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with cloud networking (AWS/Azure).
- Detailed knowledge of networking systems.
- Solid understanding of networking and security principles.
- Experience with storage engineering, wide-area networking, and network virtualization.
- Ability to identify, deploy, and manage complex networking systems.
