Technology Lead
Security Benefit is searching for an experienced Technology Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate may work remotely but will be required to travel to our home office in Topeka, Kansas or our New York office periodically. Security Benefit associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.

What Does the Job Look Like?
Security Benefit is looking for a Technology Lead to oversee a team of skilled engineers and work with cross-functional teams to provide high-quality software solutions within the Agile framework . This involves playing a key role in advancing technological innovation and ensuring effective project delivery. Knowledge of technology, along with excellent leadership and communication skills, will be crucial in directing the team towards meeting our strategic goals.
As a Technology Lead, you’ll be responsible for:
- Providing technical leadership and guidance, ensuring adherence to best practices, quality standards, and architectural principles.
- Overseeing software solution design, development, testing, and deployment, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Establishing project specifications and technical direction and aligning them with business goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Creating and maintaining a framework of technical standards and procedures, and evaluating new technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance team productivity and product quality.
- Analyzing existing operations and identifying and mitigating risks and redundancies.
- Driving adoption and continuous improvement of Scrum methodology and fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Coaching and mentoring team members and facilitating effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Communicating project status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders, including senior leadership, and soliciting feedback to inform decision-making.
- Conducting retrospectives and implementing process improvements to enhance team performance.
- Ensuring proper documentation of technical designs, implementation details, and operations procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintain system integrity.
Who Are You?
If you are passionate about technology, innovation, and driving organizational change toward excellence:
- 7 – 10 years as a Software Engineer or relevant role.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in software development with a strong background in full stack development technologies such as angular, python, node.js, react etc.
- In-depth understanding of Agile methodologies, with hands-on experience in implementing Scrum frameworks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Understanding of common architectural patterns and the ability to communicate tradeoffs of different patterns and approaches.
- Ability to understand complex systems and how individual applications and services fit into and affect the entire system.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, serverless, and containerization technologies.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or other Agile work management tools.
- Financial Services industry experience preferred.
- In depth knowledge of Security Benefit & Zinnia products and services prefferred.
