Hajoca has over 400 locations nationwide, called Profit Centers; and at the foundation of our family of businesses is a National Support Center (NSC) where Centers of Excellence are dedicated to enabling the success of our Profit Centers.


The Legal team in our National Support Center (NSC) is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist at their Baton Rouge, LA office.

 

The Employee Relations Specialist role is 100% in office, 5 days a week, at our Baton Rouge National Support Center.

About the Role: 

    You will: 

  • Manage employee relations issues, provide guidance and support to employees and management, and ensure the organization adheres to legal and ethical standards consistent with company policy. 

  • Support the Employee Relations Manager in all aspects of the role.
  • Act as a secondary point of contact for employees and managers on employee relations issues.

  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations of workplace complaints, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, retaliation, and violations of the company’s policies and Code of Conduct. Recommend appropriate actions and work with management to implement solutions.
  • Address concerns, complaints, and conflict resolutions while ensuring a fair and respectful resolution process.

  • Collaborate with external counsel on employment-related lawsuits, providing necessary support and information.
  • Offer counsel to employees and management on various employment-related issues, fostering a positive and compliant workplace environment.

  • Stay current on developments in local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations and compliance requirements to proactively mitigate legal risks and ensure adherence to new regulations. Ensure policies are updated regularly to align with changing legislation.
  • Interpret and advise management and employees on company policies, employment laws, and best practices.

  • Assist with the performance management process, including coaching managers on employee disciplinary actions. 
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all employee relations’ matters, including investigations, resolutions, follow-ups, and separation documents.

  • Prepare reports on employee relations trends and metrics for the Employee Relations Manager.
  • Attend internal training sessions to stay informed and provide managers with the latest updates on relevant legal topics.
  • Research and communicate mandatory training requirements, such as Anti-Harassment, to ensure the organization remains compliant and informed.

  • Collaborate with National Service Center (NSC) teams on company-wide projects and initiatives, contributing legal expertise to support organizational goals.
  • Develop and update processes and forms, prepare legal documents, and keep the department’s intranet page updated.
  • Be willing to travel overnight as needed.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.

  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

 

About You: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience 

  • 5 or more years of experience in employee relations, including workplace investigations.
  • PHR/SPHR or similar certification a plus

  • Be able to exercise sound judgment and take initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations.

  • Be able to learn and operate various computer systems.
  • Possess leadership qualities and be viewed as a leader.

  • Effectively use Microsoft Office and other software to communicate via email and prepare and review reports and documents.

  • Be self-motivated and a fast learner.
  • Have strong organizational skills and the ability to organize complex projects, manage multiple tasks, and meet established deadlines.

  • Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Be able and willing to travel to Hajoca locations, including overnight trips from time to time.
