Griffith Foods is a global manufacturer of food products.  We provide a wide range of taste and texture components for food industry customers throughout the world.  Our products include seasoning blends, dry mixes, coating systems, dough blends, crumbs, flavors, sauces and food bases that are used in an extensive variety of application from snack foods and processed meat and poultry to ready meals. Our customers include food processors, restaurant operators and grocery retailers.  While our name may not be familiar to consumers, our products are key components of foods offered by many of the world’s best-known companies.

Summary: The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving Acquisition and Innovation efforts in key Retail targets that are consistent with our Long-Range Plan (LRP) by leveraging Griffith Foods’ core capabilities. Further, the BDM is responsible to achieve the annual budget for assigned Retention and Penetration customers, plus cultivate a robust CRM pipeline for growth.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Strategic Planning– Provides strategic input that reflects marketplace and customer requirements into the GFUS annual sales & marketing planning process for Acquisition and Innovation targets. The input should focus on specific customer strategies and tactics that will result in a final plan that can be executed to achieve LRP objectives.
  • Account Planning– Establishes plans, priorities, objectives, and strategies for assigned accounts that are consistent with Griffith Foods’ LRP.
  • Sales/Volume Execution– Achieve/exceed volume & profit goals for targeted customers within their respective territory.
  • Customer Development– The BDM should penetrate key customers by selling the total Griffith Foods portfolio and by focusing on adding value and facilitating the execution of strategic initiatives to achieve an on-going competitive advantage. These activities will support account plans and LRP.
  • Sales Operational Effectiveness– Effectively manage administrative responsibilities including forecasting, S&OP support, account planning, managing at risk inventory, CRM utilization, and project management processes, etc.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the food industry required.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and acquiring new retail customers (hunter mentality).
  • Proven experience in building and maintaining business relationships.
  • Experience with customized and private label food products development required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal and project management skills to effectively lead cross functional teams.
  • Strong demand forecasting skills.
  • Customer first mentality.  Willingness and ability to help resolve issues that impact ability to service customer effectively.
  • Experienced in value-based selling. Able to translate features and benefits into quantifiable value-based propositions.
  • Experience with CRM.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint required.
  • This position requires 30%-50% travel.
