Quality Engineer

Location: Lithonia, GA
Summary: Provides technical assistance and support to Quality Systems, Production, Warehouse, and Customer Service teams. Maintain and update systems required for metric, documents and record management, FSQS plant wide training, when necessary, quality performance measurements and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Facilitates Cost of Quality improvement initiatives

- Conduct and document detailed observations and time studies of specific quality process
- Designs and executes testing quality control process improvement by testing focused on a particular product line or process.
- Measures and reports cost and frequency of quality control testing and inspection points
- Measuring cost of internal and external failures
- Redzone Compliance module administrator

- Creates/revises and optimizes quality checks and audits
- Reports compliance metrics
- Redzone Compliance onboarding
- Investigates and addresses missed and failed checks.
- Responsible for compiling and entering all Food Safety & Quality Metrics for KPI Scorecards and defect trend analysis.
- Train technicians to GPE tools – RCA, 5 Whys, 5S, etc.
- Develops 1-pt lessons and standard work for FSQS
- Assists in investigation and satisfactory disposition of internal nonconformances and customer complaints
- Facilitates Root Cause Analysis
- CAPA follow up according to PDCA cycle
- FSQS Lead in development of visual aids, standard work, and 1-pt lessons for factory floor operation in collaboration with GPS Team.
- Participates in internal audit program by conducting audit(s) to ensure the process is followed to expectations.
- Process specific inspections and audits
- 5S project leader
- Back fill coverage to the below as needed:
- Raw material hold/release management
- Finished product COA communication to customers
- Laboratory testing
- Prepares and participates in 3rd party & customer audits
- Participates in Tiered meetings as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science or related sciences required with 3-5 years industry experience or 10-15 years of experience in the food industry in quality control and/or assurance role.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
- Familiarity with Redzone Compliance module preferred.
- Proficiency with Lean Manufacturing tools.
- Lean six sigma green belt certified preferred.
- Must have the ability to multi-task and have strong planning and organizational skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a service minded orientation.
- Must be able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English Language
