Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
Staff - Corrosion Engineer
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This pivotal role provides support to the FPC plant in both Point Comfort, TX, and Louisiana, LA, with a primary focus on enhancing plant operations and reliability. Operating within a collaborative team environment, it assumes responsibility for implementing reliability best practices, optimizing preventive maintenance tasks, and supporting maintenance activities. The position entails active interaction with other technical groups on-site (Operation/Process engineering, Maintenance), peers, and vendors/suppliers to resolve issues and enhance overall plant reliability and performance.
Additionally, the role involves monitoring and analyzing the performance of various plant production and maintenance units to identify deficiencies and ensure activities align with policies, procedures, and guidelines. This multifaceted position oversees production budget reviews, incentive/value creation evaluations, performance scorecard calculations, production performance reports, various cost analyses, and troubleshooting production issues. Furthermore, it plays a key role in reviewing improvement projects such as B-1/B-2/B-4/B5/PE-7 and PRs.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Conduct reviews and studies on related capital improvement projects submitted (B-1/B-2/B-4/B-5/PE-7).
- Apply value analysis to decisions regarding repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Address and troubleshoot plant production issues through daily production report and monthly operation deficiency report.
- Perform various cost analyses for operational insights.
- Conduct a thorough review of the production budget.
- Assess and review incentive/value creation initiatives.
- Calculate performance scorecards for operational evaluation.
- Prepare necessary routing reports on a quarterly/semi-annual/annual basis.
- Thoroughly review and assess Purchase request (PR) submissions.
- Conduct audits on procedures and systems for compliance.
- Undertake additional projects or assignments as directed by the manager.
- Monitor equipment performance and propose improvement recommendations.
- Collaborate with peers both on-site and across the company.
- Provide technical support/expertise during the design and installation stages of projects for new assets and modification of existing assets to minimize life cycle cost and maximize asset availability.
- Offer technical support within your discipline to production, maintenance, project, and process engineering groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 1 - 4 years direct relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, chemical process, power generation industries, or similar industry is required.
- General knowledge on material standards (e.g. ASTM, ANSI, ASME, API, NACE and ISO)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbally;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Excellent computer skills;
- A willingness and drive to continue to learn and to improve yourself;
- Working in a team environment
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant BS Engineering degree
