Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
To run routine structure, composition, morphology and thermal/rheology analyses and assist engineers in lab instrument calibration, maintenance and R&D projects.

II. QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School graduate or equivalent
2. Valid Driver's License
3. Eight hours of college chemistry; or an associate degree in Chemical Technology
(Laboratory); or three years industrial lab experience; or 15 consecutive months
Polyolefins/Polymer Analysis lab experience. Additional knowledge and experience
in polymer processing and mechanical testing are preferred.

Policy, Procedure and Safety training available after hire.

IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform instrumental and wet-chemistry analyses of polymer products and raw materials
2. Conduct or participate calibration and maintenance of instruments
3. Run QC tests on instruments in charge
4. Maintain test records and participate in data/results management
5. Assist engineer/scientist set up new analysis/test procedures and improve existing ones
6. Maintain and proactively follow SOP to run established tests and analysis; assist
engineer/scientist to set up new SOP
7. Troubleshoot and repair instruments
8. Attend project meetings and contribute to the projects discussed
9. Review and evaluate data and communicate all findings scientists, engineers,
management and other related parties
10. Operate a vehicle both in plant and on public roadways as needed
11. Work outside normal shift hours as needed and when possible
12. Actively attend Safety and Departmental Training
13. Maintain regular and reliable attendance
14. Will abide by the quality policy in regards to ISO 9000 and will abide by the
Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements as they pertain to ISO 14001.
15. Operate a vehicle both in plant and on public roadways
16. Work outside normal shift hours as needed.
17. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
18. Other duties as assigned

V. MACHINES, TOOLS, AND ELECTRICAL DEVICES
1. Analytical and wet-chemistry lab instruments
2. Lab scale plastics processing machines

databases)

VI. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
A. Climbing, ascending or descending ladder, stairs, and ramps, . Body agility is
emphasized.
B. Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist. Example:
inspect instruments and replacing parts.
C. Kneeling: bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
D. Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
E. Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Example: giving signals,
reaching for material or handle on item.
F. Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time. Example: making copies, giving
presentations, directing traffic
G. Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances
H. Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to
thrust forward, downward, or outward.
I. Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a
sustained motion.
J. Lifting, raising objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects horizontally
from position to position.

K. Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather

O. Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no more than a 40 db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz with or without correction, Ability to receive verbal communication
and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on
machined parts.

VII. VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED
A. Machine operation, inspection, close assembly, clerical and administrative duties.
Example: Preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, data entry,
CRT exposure, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts,
using measurement devices or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
B. Mobile equipment operations, operate cars, trucks, buses, fork lifts, cranes, and high
lift equipment.
C. Other criteria based on accuracy and neatness of work. Example: logging sample and
test records accurately following conventions, keeping tools and samples in order,
maintaining work space tidy and clean, etc.
D. Position requires individual to differentiate colors, depth, and perception.

VIII. CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO THIS POSITION
A. Inside and outside environments apply.
B. Subject to extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods more than one hour.
C. Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to he heard above the noise level.
D. Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure
to chemicals, gases, high heat or explosives.
E. Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor
ventilation, and dust.
