Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Executes the planning, design, and implementation of the Corporate Industrial Hygiene and Loss Control programs to ensure compliance with all state, Federal, and corporate regulations, policies, and procedures. Provides expert technical support to all company locations. Provides substantial support to the company's Product Stewardship Program for all product lines.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Hazard Identification, Anticipation, Evaluation: Proactively identify workplace hazards through the efforts of site inspections and process analysis. Ability to recognize potential pathways for chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic stressors. Conduct exposure assessments, recommend control measures, and design and implement industrial hygiene programs.
Development and Implementation: Recommend engineering controls to eliminate or minimize hazards at the source. Implement administrative controls such as work practices, job rotation, and exposure monitoring schedules.
Compliance Reporting: Participate in internal audits to develop improved procedures for safety monitoring compliance. Review corporate operations for comparison and innovative solutions. Monitor compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Maintain accurate records of exposure assessments, control measures, and employee training. Prepare reports in detail identifying hazards and exposure levels. May act as a technical representative for national industry associations.
Support, Training, and Education: Provide regulatory support for Maintenance and Operations. Develop and deliver training for employees on workplace hazards, safe work practices, and proper PPE use. Educate management on the importance of industrial hygiene practices and regulation compliance.
THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain plant in like new condition.
TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
Ten plus (10+) years of experience in Industrial Hygiene within the Petrochemical or Oil Refining industry.
Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job
Most of the following: Hazwoper Supervisor & Trainer, Hazmat Supervisor, OSHA Compliance, Radiation Safety Officer, Asbestos Supervisor, HazCom Trainer, TSCA Coordinator, Loss Management, and PSM training.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Experience in database management desirable, e.g. Microsoft Access.
Education
Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Hygiene; other similar engineering disciplines considered.
