SUMMARY
Operates the VCM Production unit to meet production, quality, safety and environmental standards by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Monitors process variables and makes adjustments to operate within the parameters as established in standard operating procedures and log sheets.
Monitors rotating equipment for proper operation.
Operates manual valves.
Samples and analyzes process samples.
Operates personnel computers and the DCS (distributed control system).
Communicates plant status and abnormalities orally and through written logs.
Troubleshoots process abnormalities.
Evaluates and makes recommendations for process improvements.
Performs minor maintenance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate of Science in Process Technology from college or technical school; or five years operations experience; or two years Vinyl Chloride operations related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
