I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position is responsible for being aware and knowledgeable, providing guidance, and maintaining compliance with existing, new, and modified State, Federal, and corporate regulations, policies, and procedures at Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas. Performs routine engineering tasks using standard procedures including regular inspections of the facility and audits of unit air permitting compliance manuals. The Environmental Specialist will also provide reporting services as needed. The Environmental Specialist will assist with the preparation, review and submittal of various state and federal air permitting projects as needed.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Environmental Compliance
Facilitate implementation of Environmental programs that provide methods of compliance for the operating units individually and the facility as a whole including compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company safety, health, and security programs/ practices in line with corporate and site goals/objectives.
Leadership and Development
Coach and lead individual team members and groups for continued development of Environmental Competency throughout the organization.
Utilize internal and external resources to foster teamwork, develop workable solutions, and optimize/positively impact departmental and company goals and results, in line with achieving regulatory compliance
Initiate Action and Function as the Critical Liaison
Determine maintenance, operations, and other support needs through interaction and provide regulatory interpretation/support to meet corporate objectives/goals. Facilitate regulatory compliance through implementation of training, policies/procedures, environmental evaluation of compliance as applicable, and provide execution/assistance for special projects as needed.
Environmental Stewardship
Execute assigned responsibilities, activities, and tasks in a manner protective of the environment so as to prevent/minimize environmental releases/emissions/issues, in line with corporate and site goals/objectives and regulatory requirements.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA (Minimal Technical Requirements)

0 – 3 years of applicable experience.

Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
3. Education
B. S. Degree in one of the environmental sciences, earth sciences, or an engineering discipline. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
