Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

POSITION OBJECTIVE
The purpose of the Shift Supervisor position is to be directly in charge of how an LLDPE unit operates and ensure that all operators are up to date on company policies, and process knowledge. The Shift Supervisor position is also responsible for ensuring the unit operates in a safe manner while complying with environmental protocols, and meets the safety/environment compliance regulations and stipulations. While still meeting production goals and maintaining quality standards.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Manage and Lead: Assign the operators to their areas of responsibility weekly. Monitor their work tasks daily by review of the log sheets and checklist. Handle any conflicts, whether operational or personal, that develop. Be clear and precise in the communications to your employee. Obtain feedback to ensure the Operator understands the communication. Have the ability to make timely decisions as pertain to the matter of the employees.

Operations: Provide support to the Operators, enabling the Unit to achieve smooth operation while avoiding unscheduled process interruptions. This will be achieved by interacting with the various process areas and rail car loading area.

Maintenance Support: Assist in scheduling Maintenance Groups in a manner that reduces unscheduled work. The overall goal is to complete planned and scheduled maintenance activities within departmental budgets.

Staff Development: Maintain knowledge of best practices and provide continuing education opportunities. Develop each individual’s talents to the fullest, creating an environment that supports collaboration, cross-functional team work, and information sharing. Communicate, lead and motivate high performance expectations, individual initiatives, and accountability.

THM – Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground, No Visible Pollution, and Operation Clean Sweep programs. Uphold LLDPE cleanliness expectations and culture.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
A.TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
1.Previous Related Experience Required
A minimum of (5) years of experience in a Petrochemical Facility as a Chemical Operator.

2.Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job
•Must have a good working knowledge of the LLDPE fluidized bed technology process.
•Must have a good working knowledge of the LLDPE reaction area DCS.
•Must be able to understand critical lab result data as it pertains to process control pointsand environmental control points in the LLDPE fluidized bed technology process.
•Must be familiar with all LLDPE operation SOP's.
•Must be familiar with how to implement all environmental health and safety procedures that pertain to LLDPE operations.

3.Education 
High School Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of five (5) years of direct job-related experience. Chemical Operator Course Preferred.

4.Other Certification/Training Required To Gain Function-Related Technical Knowledge
•Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements forcurrent position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
•Will require training on process, SOP, safety and Company policies after hire.
