Scope of the Position

Operationally focused, hands on leader, who is an active participant in leading the local HR functions and support the overall corporate initiative through: Developing policies and directs/coordinates human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. The position is responsible to ensure HR teams are providing effective human resource program deliverables that adhere to the Company standards. Serve as HR oversight to the facility HR teams and develop regular communications to guarantee the effective deployment of human resources. Position will be based in Grand Rapids, MI, but also have management responsibility over Plants across the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the strategy for the HR Operations in line with the strategic plan of the HR department, improving processes, prioritizing activities, bringing innovation, and ensuring a strong and stable infrastructure to sustain organizational growth.
  • Develops organizational group strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations.
  • Lead the assigned human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.
  • Develops human resources operations workforce strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Accomplishes special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction.
  • Lead and oversee HR teams in the process of evaluating and development of programs to retain staff, ensuring an attractive and competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Oversee HR Systems and have strategic and operational oversight for payroll, benefits, immigration, programs, policy, process & compliance.
  • Manage employment agreements, contracts with insurances and with consultants observing legal requirements and protecting the Company interests.
  • Oversee all employee life-cycle phases (from the hiring process to separation) ensuring that all relevant policies are well communicated, implemented and adhered to.
  • Strengthen and modernize the delivery of high quality and timely HR support and services to staff, while developing cross-functional collaborative partnership with managers, individual staff members and key stakeholders.
  • Work in partnership with the local HR team to develop the capacity of supervisory staff in managing the performance management system.
  • Provide accurate and timely information about the workforce and key performance indicators to assess progress towards goals.
  • Review and ensure compliance to HR policies and procedures, coordinating the development of policies and handbooks for the employees, and supporting their implementation and dissemination.
  • Monitor administration to established standards and procedures. Identify opportunities for improvement and resolves any discrepancies.
  • Track Audit reports. Lead the HR team in developing and executing audit action points.
  • Lead and develop the Human Resources Department efforts by ensuring staff understand and apply HR best practices and FNG policy, and engaging staff to foster and implement a creative and productive workplace that actively promotes learning and staff development.
  • Function as a key member of the HR Leadership Team, providing high-level recommendations on best practices, HR policies, initiatives, and HR strategies.
  • Effectively identify and manage HR risks and opportunities.
  • Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications.
  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required. Masters preferred.
• SHRM – SCP or SPHR
• Human Resource Management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Labor Relations
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Highly motivated, service and team-oriented
• Knowledge of the manufacturing industry
• Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational development, employee relations, and training and development
• Demonstrated internal customer service skills
• Ability to develop HR programs and policies based on business requirements.
• Strong project management, time management, and leadership skills.
• Ability to mentor HR Managers.
• Ability to negotiate contracts.
• Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
