We are seeking a motivated and experienced Rail Account Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of railroad hazmat and environmental regulations, as well as experience with environmental compliance, emergency response and the waste management industry. The Account Manager will be responsible for generating new leads, prospecting for potential customers, and closing deals. He or she will also be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our existing clients.
Responsibilities:
- Generate new leads through existing connections face to face meetings, email marketing, and attending industry events
- Stay current in railroad initiatives and planned environmental jobs
- Prospect for potential customers by researching companies in the railroad and waste management industries
- Close deals by negotiating contracts and pricing
- Provide exceptional customer service to existing clients
- Prepare and present sales proposals
- Track sales performance and meet sales goals
- Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers
- Provide technical support to customers
- From time to time be at the initial startup of larger/complex rail projects
- Be a resource to Operations as well as H&S on projects outside normal scope
- Maintain a deep understanding of railroad hazmat/environmental & waste regulations
- Attend industry events and conferences
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and regulations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, environmental science, or a related field or commensurate work experience
- 10+ years of experience in sales, preferably in the railroad or waste management industries
- Strong understanding of railroad hazmat and environmental regulations
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Deep understanding of the sales cycle
- Excellent ability to track on going projects and lend assistance as needed
- Proven track record of success in generating leads and closing deals
