Slitter Set-Up Operator - 1st Shift

Ridgewood is a subdivision of Ameriwood Home, a division of the Dorel Home segment of Dorel Industries, who specializes in domestically manufactured and imported RTA furniture sold through the brick & mortar sales channel throughout the United States and Canada. For our Cornwall facility, we are searching for a:

Slitter Set-Up Operator

(1st Shift - 7:00AM - 3:30PM)

Summary:

• Safely operating the slitter machine and ensure production rates are met.
• Replace tooling, including front and rear end trimming blades, fine and rough trimming cutters.
• Set up machine optimally for upcoming orders.
• Organizing material into proper locations, identify, label materials. Maintaining materials in the right order with walkie stacker.
• Help train and guide new employees (laborers or operators) with the proper operation of the machine.
• Cycle counting various material types as needed.
• Maintain work area clean and organized.
• Perform other related tasks.

Requirements:

• Obtain a passing grade on written tests (basic mathematics, material identification various cycle counts, etc.).
• Ability to master the operator’s manuals.
• Demonstrate the ability to use and understand a metric/imperial measuring tool such as measuring tape.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Ability to operate a walkie stacker safely.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision, work as a team with others and have an excellent attendance record.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• Ability to multitask and do setups and changeovers effectively.
• Able to distinguish small details.
• Position requires continuous standing and walking and ability to regularly lift heavy objects (more than 25 kg).
• Must demonstrate basic computer skills.
