Fire Door Inspector
Responsible for ensuring commercial/residential buildings are in compliance with Fire and Building codes by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions
- Conducting inspections using a tablet and software to complete the Field Inspection Form, determining compliance based on applicable codes and standards
- Compiling detailed reports of findings, highlighting areas of compliance or non-compliance, and submitting them promptly
- Applying QR code stickers to inspected openings as required
- Capturing photographs of inspected openings and documenting deficiencies
- Uploading inspection data daily via the tablet's synchronization feature
- Recommending solutions for non-compliant openings, including necessary products and labor for corrective actions
- Ensuring a clean, safe, and debris-free job site upon completing each inspection
- Completing and submitting accurate job tickets, timesheets, and supporting documentation in a timely manner
- Updating inspection data post-repair to reflect the current status of openings
- Traveling as needed to complete inspections and fulfill customer requirements
- Performing other duties as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications
- Active certification from one of the following:
- DHI – Certified Fire Door Assembly Inspector (CFDAI)
- DOIT – Qualified Fire Door Inspector
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in operating computers, phones, and other productivity tools
- Familiarity with commercial building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, IFC, NFPA 80, NFPA 105, NFPA 101) is highly desirable
- Experience with commercial doors, frames, and hardware is a plus
- Comfortable working around potential environmental factors (e.g., temperature extremes, heights, dust, noise)
- Physical ability to ascend/descend ladders, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods
- High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experience
- Current and valid US driver’s license preferred
- Prior experience with Fire and Building codes required
- Must pass criminal background check and drug test

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and see. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hand to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Frequent lifting required of items 5-25 pounds, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Work Environment
This job operates in both a professional office and warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. May occasionally require driving to project sites. Conditions will include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Subject to frequent heavy lifting. May be exposed to variable weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
