Audio Video Engineer
The Audio/Video Engineer will be responsible for driving strategy and delivery of complex A/V and Mass Communication projects. This person will be working closely with Customers and sales personnel, to ensure design and delivery of a secure, compliant and stable A/V platform
Essential Functions
- Design, install, implement and configure both simple and complex AV technologies to meet the broadcasting needs of the organization
- Design, plan and install AV systems
- Provide AV installation project oversight and updates
- Inventory AV devices and materials intended for installations
- Test and verify functionality of newly installed AV systems
- Perform AV system maintenance and repair as needed
- Responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining the AV systems
- This position will have duties in Pre and Post Sales.
- As such, the duties and job description of the average Audio Video Engineer can vary greatly. However, there are a few that are likely to be more frequently encountered than others, including the following:
- Ensuring that AV hardware and software is prepared to meet the needs of the organization
- Maintenance, troubleshooting and problem-solving of hardware and software
- Storing, transporting, assembling and disassembling AV/Mass Communication equipment
- Ensuring the production and updating of AV documentation such as user guides
- Cabling and wiring to implement technologies into AV setups
- Provide Planning, Design and Implementation throughout the install Lifecycle, including application and hardware upgrades, and solution optimization
- Provide and maintain architectural documentation of AV infrastructure and creating handover documentation
- Participate in multi-discipline design teams to provide solutions and capacity planning of equipment
- Assist with development of documentation for standards requirements within the department
- Excellent team player with ability to coordinate and cooperate with others
- Host project meeting with key personnel to review project progress, publish status reports on a scheduled basis
- Other relative duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years hands-on experience designing and deploying AV/Mass Communication solutions
- Formal education in electronics or a related field preferred
- Experience working in large enterprise networks is desired. The ability to work under pressure and interface with senior management will be key to this role
- Experience working in public places (schools, city/state offices, etc.)
- Understanding of AV/Mass Communication Technologies at a technical level
- Prior experience with Audio Enhancement is considered a plus
- Industry certifications (Panduit, Systimax, BICSI, Avixa CTS etc.)
Physical Demands
Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds, and occasional lifting over 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Work Environment
Conditions will include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Subject to frequent heavy lifting. May require driving to project sites. May be exposed to variable weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
