Installer
The ideal candidate has at least 2 years’ experience installing commercial hollow metal, wood and glass/aluminum doors and door hardware (manual and electrified). Experience installing and programming automatic door operators from multiple manufacturers and relay logic with AAADM’s certification a plus. Must have experience with electrified hardware including exit devices, strikes, maglocks, locksets and door closers.
Essential Functions
• Follows instructions from field supervisor regarding installation of doors, frames, and hardware, to include
- Load, unload, and stage various types of doors, frames, panels, and hardware. This includes carrying these items up and down stairs when required.
- Install various types for door, storefront, and window frames.
- Swing and adjust various types of doors.
- Install various types and sizes of glass.
- Install and adjust various types of standard and electrified hardware and actuators.
- Utilize necessary equipment to transport/install specialty doors.
- Follow all steps in the procedure for receiving parts for projects and verify that the parts/supplies/equipment are correct and adequate for the job prior to leaving the shop.
• Works independently and with other installers to install Division 8 products as assigned and trained
• Responsible for installation of more technically advanced or demanding architectural grade products
• Follows manufacturer direction and warranty requirements when installing products
• Tracks time and materials as required for each installation project
• Maintain all equipment in good working order and report any malfunctions to field supervisor
• Train entry level technicians on proper installation techniques and methods
• Follows all company policies and procedures
• Provides quality customer service
• Attends all training to learn new technology of building materials and installation methods as required by location management
• Other relative duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experience
• Some installation experience with doors, frames, and hardware products, or Division 8 products
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to read and use a measuring tape, level and other required tools for installation required
• Excellent interpersonal skills required
• Excellent written and verbal skill required with the ability to communicate and understand detailed instructions
Physical Demands
Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 50-80 pounds.
Work Environment
May require driving to project sites. May be exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
