The Data Technician II is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing cable infrastructure in a low voltage environment. The ideal candidate will be able to meet the physical demands of the worksite while also providing excellent customer service.

- Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations
- Running, pulling, and terminating copper
- Assist co-workers with installation and routine maintenance of structured cabling systems
- Ensuring that products are installed to industry standards, face plate sand labels neat and plumb ensuring a professional appearance
- Maintaining project housekeeping protocols
- Assist with keeping track of site tools and materials to avoid loss or damage

- Demonstrate ability to ask applicable questions and willingness to learn new skills
- Punctuality and consistent daily attendance
- BASIC HAND TOOLS OWNED BY EMPLOYEE, (DRILL, SNIPS, SCREDRIVERS, LEVEL)
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools to perform assigned job site tasks
- Understanding safety as it relates to each division and the use of appropriate safety measures in daily tasks
- Familiarity with industry and best practices
- Demonstrate ability to work successfully independently and in a group setting
- Ability to install cabling according to industry standards with minimal supervision
- Ability to install cable pathways including but not limited to:
- J-Hooks
- Basket Tray
- Ladder Rack
- Ability to dress cables neatly and in-line with applicable standards
- Ability to use hand and power tools to assist in building out data closets including but not limited:
- 2-Post Racks
- Ladder Rack
- Setting Cabinets
- Ability to terminate and install standard industry copper connectors with minimal supervision/training
- 4-Pair cable terminations
- Multi-Pair cable termination
- Applicable color codes
- Coaxial terminations
- Basic troubleshooting (Toning, Butt-set, etc.…)
- Basic alert cabling terminations (speakers, horns…etc.)
- Familiarity with fiber products
- Ability to identify different fiber types (Single mode and Multimode)
- Ability to identify different fiber connectors (LC, SC, ST, MPO, APC)
- Some entry level manufacturer and/or industry training, examples include:
- CommScope Uniprise
- Panduit PCT
- Basic understanding of bonding and grounding installation principles:
- Telecommunication Busbars
- Compression style connectors
- Routing and installation of bonding conductors
- Basic understanding of firestopping principles:
- Firestop Caulk
- Firestop Pillows
- Firestop Putties
- Basic understanding of transmission principles:
- Copper Testing – Setup testing equipment and save test results
- Properly read redline drawings with accuracy

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Limited experience up to 2 years.
OSHA 10, preferred but not required for hire.
Aerial lift certification.
Fall protection certification/training.

Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds, and occasional lifting over 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Conditions will include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Subject to frequent heavy lifting. May require driving to project sites. May be exposed to variable weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
