Position Overview
Responsible for providing financial support for Finance, Sales and Marketing focused on trade and promotional spending and reporting. This includes tracking promotional activities and deductions against customer receivables.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
- Research customer deductions to determine root cause and classify accordingly for proper resolution (ex., pricing variances, shortages, trade allowances and promotions, special promotions, damages, post audit claims, etc.)
- Obtain backup for Direct Ship and DSD deductions via customer portals, deduction mailbox or from appropriate account managers
- Identify issues and trends and regularly reports status of trade deductions (open and closed) to relevant business partners within the organization including Sales Management, Trade Planning and Marketing
- Identify issues and trends and regularly report status of non-trade deductions (open and closed) and propose recommendations to affected business owners that results in improvements in the order to cash cycle
- Monitor accounts to reduce aging of deductions and invoices
- Monitor customer aging reports and contribute to maintaining a quality accounts receivable portfolio
- Research and follow-up on all internal and external inquiries regarding trade and promotional discrepancies
- Support processes and procedures that ensure compliance with company policies and controls
- Identify internal pain points and potential process improvements within the deductions management process.
- May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business-related field or equivalent experience in similar accounting role
- 2+ years experience working in Accounts Receivable and/or Credit department for mid to large size CPG company, preferred.
- Experience working cross functionally with these departments may fulfill this requirement
- Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
- Advanced proficiency of accounting software and MS Excel
- Knowledge of SAP a plus
- Knowledge of Trade Promotion Management system a plus
