Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Adheres to, and has full working knowledge of the plant safety and environmental program. Works in conjunction with the Operations and Maintenance Supervisors and other shift personnel to ensure that safe working practices and conditions are adhered to.
  • Under general supervision of the Senior Shift Stationary Engineer, operate, maintain, and repair combustion and steam turbine generators, heat recovery steam generators, high pressure boilers, air and gas compressors, diesel generators, absorption and centrifugal chillers, high and low voltage switchgear, chemical treatment equipment, reverse osmosis equipment, and various computer systems including DCS, PLC’s, and SCADA systems.
  • Monitor plant operation through equipment rounds checks and record equipment operations in logs. Effectively communicate identified equipment abnormalities.
  • Read P&ID’s, blueprints, single line electrical diagrams, vendor manuals and other reference materials to operate and maintain all equipment associated with Combined Cycle Cogeneration Central Utilities Plant.
  • Conduct, analyze, and adjust water chemistry for chiller, cooling tower, and boiler water systems. Participate in on-shift preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance activities. Ensures a smooth and accurate shift turnover through proper written and oral communication. Complete other duties as required.

 

Experience and Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or general education degree or equivalent with a minimum of three years power generation operations and maintenance experience or equivalent boiler/turbine theory experience.
  • Strong process analysis, troubleshooting, and rotating equipment maintenance skills. Ability to work in closed quarters and confined spaces; climb ladders and structures; lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are critical. Commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Under minimal supervision must be able to perform operations and maintenance tasks in an effective and efficient manner following established standards and procedures.

  • Ability to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule with overtime and occasional call-ins including holidays, nights, and weekends.  Varying shift assignments based on team coverage needs.
