Position Summary
Rope Access Certified Pipefitter is responsible for carrying out standard rope access operations to perform inspection, maintenance, repairs, and other industrial work tasks on industrial petrol/chemical equipment while on ropes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, ISO’s, filed installations, material takeoffs, field sketches, and understand specifications
- Fabricate and install screw pipe, socket weld pipe, stainless tubing, carbon steel weld pipe, stainless steel weld pipe
- Miter and fabricate all pipe
- Installs valves, underground pipe, pipe hangers and supports
- Steam and heat tracing
- Use beveling machine
- Basic plumbing repair
- Minor valve maintenance and repair
- Test piping systems
- Oxygen and acetylene cutting
- Basic rigging
- Operation of Pneumatic and electric tools
- Leak test tubing systems
- Additional responsibilities not listed may be required
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years industrial construction/maintenance industry experience
- NCCER Certified Plus, preferred
- IRATA / SPRAT Level 1 or 2 certification
- Must have a capacity for work at heights
- Maintains proficiency at rescue techniques and assist in rescues as directed and in accordance with certification level.
- Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to the IRAT/SPRAT standards and practices
- Ensures team members utilize proper personal protective equipment
- Displays a healthy respect for heights and follows all OSHA, site specific and company's safety procedures
- Participates in required training and maintains a working understanding of rope access safe working practices
- Inspects and verifies rope access systems and components before use
- Recognizes worksite hazards and notifies the Rope Access Supervisor of any unsafe conditions
- Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
- General mechanical capabilities
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG welding, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and weld symbols
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves, respirators, etc.)
